Dreaming of death
Not fearing death.
These are daydreams
Not nightmares.
Hoping to find my kryptonite
To resurrect me
Out of my purgatory.
Like the phoenix,
I have been burned,
Now smoldering with passion,
In my own ashes.
Will she be the one,
To light my flame
And watch me rise
Up and leave
All the ashes she made out of me?
Poem 1
By Duncan Barnes, 12th grade, Rocky Mount Academy
Always quiet
And new
Silently critiquing
With modesty ...
Perhaps hidden talent
With a truer beauty
And kindness unrealized,
Words overshadowing leading to
Thoughtful innocence
And intensity in the silence.
Beautiful People
Veronica Magallon, third grade, OLPH Catholic School
Looking in a reflective pool of water
People ask themselves,
"How much does beauty weigh?"
Beauty itself is in the recreation of one's mind.
Ask yourself this question
And put the rest to the test.
Does your neighbor wear mean jeans?
Or show an unusual crooked tooth when they grin, or
Have earthquake hair that sticks straight up?
Or sound like a goose when they sip from a cup?
Himself, herself and all of ourselves are beautiful.
